Embracing Peer Research: My Journey from Mental Health Nurse to MS Advocate

When I first saw the post on the MS website looking for peer to peer researchers, my interest was piqued.

Prior to my MS diagnosis, I had been a mental health nurse for 30 years, and felt this would be a great way to dust off the old interpersonal skills! I was so happy to be offered this role, and already there is a great team feeling amongst my new colleagues.

The research interviews we are doing will help shape future equal access to MS services. We are well supported by Sharifa, and have debrief calls after each interview, in case it stirs some thing up in ourselves.

This week we will be getting the first batch of transcripts through, so looking forward to getting stuck in and seeing some common themes coming through.

Keep you posted about those! Lauren Hopkins, peer researcher.
